Ashton Bayliss
Defender
Age: 20

Ashton was a member of the side in the Blue Square North last season, when he joined from Blackpool in March. He can either full-back or central defence but has an eye for putting a good ball through to the forwards. This season has seen him develop his game and he is quickly establishing a good reputation.

Ryan Bowen
Defender/Midfield
Age: 32

Ryan is something of a local hero with the Linnets supporters. His Grandfather played for the club in the 1940’s and he was born and brought up a few hundred yards from the ground. Now in his thirties, he began with the clubs youth section and progressed into the first-team as a teenager in the then North-West Counties League. Has been involved with four promotion winning Burscough teams, was in the FA Trophy winning team in 2003 as well as the side that beat Gillingham in the FA Cup in 2005. Has easily appeared more times for Burscough than any other player.

Darren Brookfield
Midfield
Age: 25

Midfielder who began his career at Southport, where he was a highly considered member of the PASE scheme. Left Haig Avenue to join Marine, where he became an integral and highly popular member of the side. Joined Burscough in June 2009.

Darren Byers
Striker
Age: 24

Darren was with Chester City as a youngster, then he moved to County Combination club South Sefton. Andy Gray had him for two years at Prescot Cables, where he scored 19 goals last season despite the clubs struggling position. He is expected to be among the goals again this season.

Kyle Clancy
Goalkeeper
Age: 19

Kyle first joined the club in Feb 2009, and then at the end of the season he signed for Northwich Victoria. A very brave goalkeeper, he started his career with Everton before joining Blackpool, later moved on to Droylsden from who he initially came to Victoria Park.

James Connolly
Centre-Back
Age: 28

James started his career at Southport progressing through the reserves and into the first team, before joining Marine, where the strong central defender was a stalwart of the team for five years, making over 200 appearances. Joined Burscough in the summer of 2008, but moved back to Haig Avenue without an appearance for The Linnets. Having captained The Sandgrounders for much of last season, he rejoined Burscough in the summer of 2009, where he will form a formidable partnership with Farrell Kilbane at the heart of the defence.

Alan Cross
Physio
Age: -

An experienced Physio, Alan has spent ten years with Droylsden and also worked closely with Everton Ladies in the FA Women’s Premier League. Joined Burscough in the summer with Andy Gray.

Lewis Field
Defender
Age: 19

Ormskirk born defender, who was with Wigan Athletic last season. Lewis was unlucky during his time at the Premier Division club’s academy suffering from a broken leg and ligament damage that left him on the sidelines for a long period. In his short time at Victoria Park has already displayed qualities that indicate a quick return to the full-time game could be on the cards.

Jonathan Goulding
Midfield/Defence
Age: 22

Jonathan joined Burscough in November 2008 for a second time having previously played briefly for the Linnets during the 2006/07 season. A very talented player, equally at home in midfield or defense, who earned both the players player and managers player of the season in 2007/08 whilst at Leigh Genesis from whom he joined the Linnets. Jonathan began his career in the junior sides at both Everton and Crewe Alexander before moving to Blackpool. At Blackpool he made significant progress and played both for the Youth team and reserves.

Andy Gray
Manager
Age: -

Andy spent most of his playing career with Burscough and local rivals Skelmersdale United, where he was a midfield player who was popular with both sets of supporters. He was assistant manager at Prescot Cables for a number of years before grasping the chance of the manager’s role three years ago. Faced with a difficult task, as reportedly finances were tight did a fine job of keeping Prescot in the Unibond Premier. Joined Burscough in summer of 2009 and has not only rekindled the team spirit, he has brought in some excellent new signings to boost the squad.

Shaun Gray
Defender
Age: 22

Six foot plus, Shaun is the son of manager Andy Gray. He is currently on loan from Southport, providing experienced cover for regular central defender Farrell Kilbane. Has played for Fleetwood Town and was on Burscough’s books briefly in the summer of 2008. Southport manager Liam Watson has expressed his respect for Shaun in the local media recently, so his stay at Victoria Park may again be brief as Watson said he remains very much part of his future plans.

Steve Hill
Assistant Manager
Age: -

Steve is in his second spell at the club, he was previously reserve team manager for a few years. Latterly has been coaching in various roles including for the Liverpool County FA, has a reputation for producing high quality players for the club, and is an experienced coach.

Mathew Kay
Central midfield
Age: 20

Mathew was signed in August 2009 from Blackpool. While at Bloomfield Road he became captain of the reserve team and appeared in the Football League. A combative hardworking midfielder, he is considered quite a capture by the club and is considered an integral part of the clubs long term plans.

James McCulloch
Midfield
Age: 19

Originally progressed through the renowned Burscough youth team, before then Burscough manager Liam Watson handed him his debut for The Linnets in March 2008 at Alfreton. Left to join Andy Gray at Prescot Cables in October 2008. Gray was quick to bring him back to Victoria Park during the summer.

Dominic Merrella
Winger
Age: 19

Chorley born Dominic was YTS and first year professional with Blackpool before briefly moving to Burscough last season. Joined Weymouth from Burscough where was full-time. Dominic’s energetic style will be an asset to Burscough this season.

Thomas Moore
Defender/Midfield
Age: -

Was manager Andy Gray’s first signing on becoming Burscough manager. Has previous experience with Prescot Cables and Skelmersdale United, very good in the air.

Matt Parry
Midfield
Age: 25

Signed in the 2003-04 season from Prescot Cables. Also played for Cheshire Lines in Liverpool County Combination. Made first team debut in January 2004 after impressing in reserves. Very skilful wide midfield player who began as a striker. Matt is presently the 2nd longest serving player with Burscough having made well over 100 appearances.

Dave Roberts
Defender
Age: 21

A versatile defender who signed for Burscough in the summer of 2006 having impressed in pre season. A local lad who is a former Wigan Athletic trainee. Dave's versatility came to the fore when throughout 2006/07 he played in several positions within the team to great effect. His performances earned him the Players player of the year award for 2006/07. Called up to represent Middlesex Wanderers on their summer tour to South Africa in 2007.

David Ryan
Full-back/midfield
Age: 19

Dave started his career with Liverpool and then moved on to Blackburn Rovers. A skilful ball playing right sided player, David arrived with a respected reputation, it is said it was something of a surprise that his services were not retained at Ewood Park.

Tommy Taylor
Forward
Age: 24

Tommy is a very mobile forward, who causes defenders no end of headaches.He has previously played for Marine and Ashton United, at the former building up quite a reputation after being introduced to the team by then manager Roly Howard.Tommy joined Burscough in the summer and has returned to the form he showed at College Road.

David Wilson
Left Midfield/Winger
Age: 18

Former Tranmere Rovers Academy player who has made quite an impact since his arrival at Victoria Park in the summer. David is another youngster that Andy Gray has brought to the club that has a great deal of potential.
